Compared to surrounding countries, Bolivia has a very young population: 32% is younger than 15 years old and the average age of the population is 24 years. There is very little encouragement from government to obtain vocational and technical training (only financed at 10%). VIA Don Bosco is putting all its efforts into this education segment and supports studies in auto mechanics and industrial mechanics, electrical and industrial electronics, cutting and sewing, hospitality and baking, secretarial skills, woodwork, beauty therapy and hairdressing, ICT, agriculture, graphic design, bookkeeping, etc.
PURPOSE
VIA Don Bosco wants to guarantee disadvantaged youth high-quality, integrated technical and vocational training and employment opportunities, in concert with 9 local partner organizations. The aim is to increase the average number of pupils who find work within 6 months from 50% to 79%. Another aim is to ramp up the financial independence of the partner organizations from 26% to 49% and to professionalize the management of the centers.
