'Entrepreneurs make the difference'

'Economics is about people. It is a social science, not an exact science'. Chairman Luc Bonte of Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs liked to quote from the recent book 'Gigantism' by Geert Noels at the general meeting of OVO. Some 100 listeners showed up at Puilaetco Dewaay's premises in Brussels.

Sustainability is a balance, a long-term vision that does not harm people and nature'.  And 'Entrepreneurs really make a difference', says Luc Bonte, who indicated that OVO is in a unique position with more than 60 volunteers who follow up and supervise the projects. General manager Björn Macauter indicated OVO's new initiatives with 'Sustainable Technology for Africa' and the OVO Acceleration Fund. '2018 was clearly a year in which OVO embraced innovation. This has been and will be pursued even further in 2019'.

Guest speaker Professor Filip Reyntjes, specialized in the region of the Great Lakes, Congo, Burundi, Uganda and Rwanda where OVO is also active, gave an animated speech on the political situation in the region. He found it disturbing that human rights and democracy are not included in the 'Sustainable Development Goals'.
His latest paper on the region can be read here.

There are also 4 new members on the Board of Directors of OVO. These are Francis De Nolf, director at Roularta, Sabine Schellens, HR director at Aquafin, Guy Ethier, senior vice president Umicore and Alain Bernard, ex-ceo and current director at Deme. OVO also thanks Katrien Valkiers (Siemens) and Veronique Goossens (Belfius) for their longstanding commitment to the Board of Directors of Entrepreneurs for Entrepreneurs.
