Supporting the fight against gender violence in Bolovia

Bolivia is considered to be the worst country in South America in terms of violence against women, despite the policy of the government, the strict legislation against sexism and the involvement of women in political life. Culturally rooted, normalized and internalized, this form of discrimination is present in all sectors: justice, education, health care or economy. Gender-based violence is a real public health scourge: It is estimated that 7 out of 10 women have experienced, or will experience in the future, physical or psychological violence in their lives, regardless of their social and economic background. According to the World Health Organisation, the perpetrator is not brought to justice in 88% of cases.
