In Fatick, one of the poorest regions in Senegal, this project focuses on developing sustainable economic activities for women. The project aims to ensure a living wage for these women and their families. Three promising sectors are the processing of cashew nuts, goat farming and milk production.
The program set up by SOS Faim and its local partner works on strengthening savings and credit associations. They make use of a training program and a local development fund to finance economic initiatives taken by groups of women. This gives women access to the necessary working capital to grow their activities. This program also strengthens the technical and management capacities of the beneficiaries: the women and their cooperative societies.
