Improved hygiene and health through ecological toilets in Uganda

In Western Uganda the population density is high. The population lives in rural areas, where only 26% have access to decent toilets. The population lives from agriculture, but has no reserves to invest in proper toilets. Poor hygiene (faeces in the open air), together with contamination by poor drinking water, is the main cause of disease and high infant mortality.
